Keep On Dancin's - Grey Ghost     Rock, Pop 13/11/2013
There’s nothing outlandish or overbearing about Brisbane-based quartet Keep On Dancin’s. No frills, no fuss, no tokenistic embellishment.
A bold take on more recent punk and garage-influenced repertoire, here is a track with the guts of a Jesus and Mary Chain classic and the washed out, irony-tinged sentimentality of Pixies’ seminal record Doolittle.

Love Migrate - Dissolved     Rock, Folk 13/11/2013
There is something about the music of Melbourne’s Love Migrate that takes hold of you, that sweeps you up into a familiar space of contemplation and reflection.
Featuring deeply atmospheric instrumentation and front man Eddie Alexander’s honest, aching lyrics, Dissolved is a track that paints pictures of vast, open landscapes, and explores the many ways in which we confront past misdemeanors.

East Brunswick All Girls Choir - Mon Repos     Rock 17/02/2014
Melbourne based project began as a solo venture by singer Marcus Hobbs but has since become a locally acclaimed four piece often compared to bands such as The Drones.
‘Mon Repos’ is a fine example of East Brunswick All Girls Choir genius. Marcus Hobbs’ lyrics are considered and direct, a perfect accompaniment to the rhythm section of Rie Nakayama and Jen Sholakis. The sections in which Hobbs’ agitated vocals wail amidst the wall of guitars are perfectly balanced.

Other tracks by East Brunswick All Girls Choir:  Dirty Bird
Twin Beasts - Sweet Marie     Rock, Alternative Country 18/02/2014
Inspired by artists diverse as Beck, Bob Dylan, and ELO, Twin Beasts have been compared with the likes of Tom Waits, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and Ennio Morricone.
‘Sweet Marie’ is not quite a love song, this is a story about an infatuated peeping tom. Equal parts endearing and (comically) disturbing, it’s a track that churns along with the kind of brashness that makes Beck and Black Francis (Pixies) so hellishly good.

Amaya Laucirica - Prettier Than The Sound     Pop 19/02/2014
Amaya Laucirica is a singer/songwriter and band whose music contains hints of folk, pop, rock and psychedelia.

Unlike previous work, where tender sadness often prevailed, this track is gloriously upbeat and buoyant.

Tiger Choir - Shani     Rock, Pop 24/03/2015
Hobart's Tiger Choir make eclectic pop music from the cultural periphery, yet they've travelled the world enough to be wide-eyed to its possibilities.
2015 MUSIC DIRECTOR PICK: Aeron Clark, Edge Radio, Hobart (TAS)

First single ‘Shani’ is a great taste of what’s to come with cascading guitars, synths that curl around each other, vocals drenched with regret and lyrics that includes what may be one of the catchiest refrains of the year in “we’re getting so messed up”.
