Queensland’s annual Woodford Folk Festival has unveiled its 2018/2019 music lineup, featuring the likes of The Cat Empire, Xavier Rudd, The Waifs and more!

The 2018 Woodford Folk Festival can be heard on community stations around Australia through the Community Radio Network. From the 29th to the 31st December,
stations 4EB and 4ZZZ will be on-site broadcasting to the nation.

Emily Wurrumarra is a proud Indigenous performer from Groote Eylandt, NT. Emily won the Indigenous Queensland Music Award in May for her track Ngarrikwujeyinama, the first single lifted from 'Milyakburra'.
Lady Blue is what my Grandmother called the sea. The sea is majestic, graceful, mysterious and so alluring. It takes me back to spending time with my family on Groote and Bickerton camping and fishing and diving into the sea. I was thinking 'ancient mermaid' when I wrote Lady Blue.

A poignant reflection of the loss and trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the Stolen Generation. Angus co-wrote the song with highly regarded indigenous singer-songwriter Kevin Bennett and recorded it as a vocal collaboration with Kevin and fellow indigenous performer Amos Morris.

Inspired by a viral Facebook post from Björk about the criticism she and other female artists face when their subject matter departs from boyfriends and love songs, Phia read an article about the discovery of 60,000-year-old bacteria alive in subterranean Mexican caves. ‘Oxide’ is from the point-of-view of this micro-organism.
