Wendy Wood - Through The Eyes Of A Boy
Dave releases I Cried the Day Merle Haggard Died, his beautiful tribute to the legend, Merle Haggard, just days before the anniversary of Merle's death.
Written by John O’Dea and Dave Prior

"John & I were driving back from the Clarence Valley music muster and began talking about the day Hag died. I said “I Cried the Day Merle Haggard Died” and we both looked at each other and thought. There’s a song in that. We tossed around some ideas and John came back with the song. Stuie French had a little play with it and here it is."

About this track...

Wendy's ANZAC song was written after seeing a picture of Alec Campbell, The Last ANZAC, standing tall with his rifle and bayonet. He was only 16 at the time and looked like a boy playing, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
