Largely an instrumental style, Gypsy Swing got its start in Paris, in the 1930s - focused around the remarkable performances of guitarist Django Reinhardt. Retaining the energy and traditional sound, Voudou Zazou conjure a Parisian feel with accordion and add vocals to create a fresh, contemporary feel.
The unusual name comes from the sharply-dressed French Jazz fans of the time, the ZAZOU - and the band's own distinctive musical "voudou"... voila!
Voudou Zazou are Coo Jarvis on vocals, Andy Jarvis on acoustic guitar, Sid Hennessey on acoustic & double bass and Mark Kram on accordion.
The band’s debut CD "Time To Swing" features five original compositions and the classic Coucou, sung in French.
