Those CDs were a bit of a lesson in power pop what’s what for me.
I’ve since come to know Scotty as a master curator. In amongst the 100+ releases he’s managed to release on his little label over the last 17 years or so are a series of compilations of (mostly obscure) pop nuggets called ‘Shake yer Popboomerang’.
Once again, Scotty’s been digging, foraging and hunting people down to pull together the absolute finest collection of Australian pop he can find. All essential, mostly rare or unreleased.
This track listing looks eclectic - and it sort of is. But there’s a sense of cohesion running through these 37 songs that somehow makes it all fit together. That’s what Scotty does - he’s forever knitting together good music and people, creating his own little pop community. He always has.
Hopefully for us, he’s busy working on volume four.”
