Trichotomy - Dancing About Architecture

Trichotomy - Dancing About Architecture
TRICHOTOMY are one of Australia’s most inventive contemporary music ensembles. With a growing international reputation as a leading group in progressive trio music, Trichotomy expand on the capacities of the classic piano/bass/drums combination by skillfully blending dense, exciting improvisations and delicate atmospherics. They conjure up sounds of modern jazz, ambient music, avant-garde rock, free improvisation and contemporary classical music, wrapping it up in a melodically captivating package.
The group has toured to the UK, Japan, France, Germany, China, South America and Canada. Collaborations have been a recent focus for the trio and they have performed around Australia with a range of artists including QSO, Topology, Froy Aagre (Norway), Julian Arguelles (UK), DVA, Stephen Magnusson, Peter Knight, Collusion, Southern Cross Soloists and selected string quartets. In 2013 the group was a finalist in the APRA Art Music Award for Excellence in Jazz and have been previous winners of the QLD Music Award for Jazz. In 2016 they were Ensemble in Residence at Griffith University QLD Conservatorium, which they carry through in 2017. 2017 also sees the trio release their 5th album “Known-Unknown” on the Dutch Label Challenge Records, with a tour to the UK and Europe.
