The Drones - To Think That I Once Loved You

The Drones - To Think That I Once Loved You
In 2005 a little known band from Melbourne VIC released what was to become one of the most critically acclaimed, celebrated and talked about Australian albums of modern times. Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Float By catapulted The Drones into the consciousness of mainstream music critics here and overseas, and cemented what fans of the band already knew….

Feelin Kinda Free is The Drones’ seventh studio album.

Recorded at Tropical Fuck Storm Studios in Melbourne Australia, with Aaron Cupples, who also sat behind the desk to recorded 2006’s LP Gala Mill. Feelin Kinda Free is the first album in over a decade to feature original Drones drummer Christian Strybosch. He is joined by long time members Gareth Liddiard, Fiona Kitschin, Dan Luscombe and Steve Hesketh.

Feelin Kinda Free is a bad trip you can dance to. It’s a punch in the brain summed up by the first line of the album’s opener Private Execution: “The best songs are like bad dreams”.
It is not like other music.
It is not your stock jock “modern” retro rehash, rather an avant avalanche of everything coming back to haunt you.

About this track...

The Drones’ new single ‘To Think That I Once Loved You’ is a stark contrast to their political spew jam ‘Taman Shud’. It is the second single from their seventh studio album, recorded in the summer of 2014/2015 at Tropical Fuck Storm Studios in Melbourne Australia with Aaron Cupples.
