Steve Smyth - Shake It

Steve Smyth - Shake It
Hailing from the New South Wales south coast, Smyth’s hazy, itinerant life has taken him across North America, Europe and through Asia. Never pausing long enough to take root, all the time registering
experiences in his songs. Eventually returning to Sydney, Smyth’s first Ivy
League Records release is the rollicking ‘Shake It’, out February 24, 2014.

From the streets of Paris to touring alongside the likes of The Killers, Angus
and Julia Stone and Lanie Lane, Smyth has proven time and time again to be
devastating in the live setting. A voice churned up in Bourbon soaked Louisiana gravel that soars to the heavens at times with its sweetness…after experiencing Steve Smyth, it’s tempting to compare him with some of the great vocalists of the past few decades.

About this track...

Recorded in Echo Park, 'Shake It' draws upon the services of Joey Waronker on drums (Thom Yorke) and Gus Seyffert on bass (The Black Keys). ‘Shake It’ binds a slice of blues with a clattering of staggered rhythms, punctuated by abstract guitars. It’s the first taste of Smyth’s album.
