Southeast Desert Metal - Break The Silence

Southeast Desert Metal - Break The Silence
The deserts of central Australia are a dry and brutal place. Temperatures can soar above fifty degrees in the summer and drop below zero in the winter. The earth is scorched red. This is the home of the Arrernte people.

The most isolated metal band in the world, Southeast Desert Metal, are from Santa Teresa, a small community in central Australia. They've developed a sound that reflects their surroundings: dynamic and distinct. Chief songwriter Chris Wallace writes about Aboriginal culture and dreaming, passing on stories from the old to the young generation.

After joining forces with Alice Springs based heavy metal label The Black Wreath in 2013, the band released their first EP "Let's Rock!" which sold out multiple pressings.

They followed with their debut, self-titled album in 2015. The band initiated the Rain Maker Music Festival to launch the album. The album included the track Eagle which received high rotation across the country. A “guest programmer” spot on RAGE and a national tour catapulted the band to new heights.

On November 23rd, 2018 they will release their second album, including lead singles "Rainmaker" and the title track "Break The Silence". The band will be touring nationally in early 2019.

About this track...

"The meaning of that is being as one. We all have the same blood colour, only our skin is a different colour. We should live our lives as humans. It's based on the history of racism. No one talks much about our history. So the song is about recognizing that and working together". - Chris Wallace
