Since forming in late 2015, Soda Jerks have amassed an impressive catalogue of infectious indie-rock tunes with relatable lyricism, driving drums and intelligently layered guitars. Their latest offering, Antipodes, is the perfect result of this killer formula.
Antipodes was written in a small AirBnB in Budapest, Hungary, on a shitty 90s Casio board borrowed from a friend. It was written in a strange state of homesickness; having a wonderful time travelling Europe, yet being unreasonably sad when friends are on the group chat organising a party back in Australia. The lyrics are also largely influenced by F Scott Fitzgerald’s fantastic collection of short stories, Tales of the Jazz Age.
