Born in Geraldton, drawn to Perth and now based in Darwin, Sam Carmody has been active as a writer across various projects and formats. In 2012 he won a WAM Song of the Year award for his work with Perth four-piece Warning Birds. In 2016 Carmody released his first novel The Windy Season and was shortlisted for the Vogel’s Award - Australia’s most prestigious literary prize for young writers. In 2017 the novel won the Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction - moving forward, Sam’s creative focus lies in his solo musical output and his desire to get back on stage.
Recalling the experimental Antipodean pop of Nick Cave, The Go-Betweens and Crowded House, Carmody's EP material is currently being self-produced along with The Money War's Dylan Ollivierre and former Warning Birds bandmate Bensen Thomas.
