Rocket to Memphis - Bad Girl

Rocket to Memphis - Bad Girl
Fronted by the captivating Betty Bombshell and featuring members of seminal Sydney band Toys Went Berserk, ROCKET TO MEMPHIS have been electrifying audiences in Perth since 2006.

Their debut EP “Swampwater Shuffle” (2007) gave the rest of the country it’s first taste of the band’s unique sound, leading to supports with swamp heroes The Scientists and international rockabilly stars Slim Jim Phantom & Darrell Higham.

Rocket to Memphis' first full-length CD "HIP-SHAKIN’ VOODOO" was released by UK label Raucous Records in April 2009 - and it certainly lives up to it’s name! From eye-popping Vince Ray cover art, to the 13 seductive, swingin’, twisted gems inside - it showcases a band that has really hit its stride - and is surely one of our most distinctive home-grown talents.

"A sultry, shimmery sway through fog-laden nights... and an inviting detour from run of the mill rockabilly of little or no regard....they creak out Creole mambas, with Razor Jack's crooked knee, angular guitar suggestive of Marc Ribots work with Tom Waits on Rain Dogs. Betty's deceptively demure vocals take the already impossibly sexy She's My Witch & No Kissin' At The Hop to near ridiculous stakes of enticing wildness." Sleazegrinder

About this track...

"Guess what this Bad Girl's gonna do? She's gonna put the voodoo in you!" This catchy and stompin' slice of sixties-flavoured pop/rock kicks Rocket to Memphis' album off - and into high gear. A memorable sing-along that Betty Bombshell manages to make tough and sexy, at the same time!
