Placid - Plunge

Placid - Plunge
placid /’plasId/ adjective calm and peaceful, with little movement or no activity.

Names can be deceiving and deception is certainly true here! Four piece grunge / hard rock band Placid is evidence that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Hailing from Perth, Western Australia the band developed a performance, sound, maturity and stage professionalism that certainly deceive people into thinking the band have been together for years.

Formed in 2014, Placid admonished the calm and peaceful expectations of the name with a new, never before seen raw energy and direction: energetic and powerful performances that leave no doubt the band is not placid by definition.

Early performances saw the band play locally in festivals and events and of course the band have played the larger more recognised live music venues in Perth including The Rosemount Hotel, Mojo’s Bar, Fremantle Metropolis, etc.

Influences by bands such as Silverchair, Alice in Chains, STP and Mother Love Bone have surely seen Placid evolve to create a uniquely fresh, old school raw grunge sound which couples catchy riffs and melodic vocals. Indeed a sound that is difficult to classify and surprisingly unique: Placid songs will stick in your head for days.

About this track...

Plunge is about the discovery of grunge music then the dismay of realising all of your grunge idols have either faded or died. The track originaltes from Kurt Cobain "I'm hooked on this stuff called grunge as I watch all my heroes plunge". Jeff Buckleys drowning death influences this song.
