The bulk of the tape was recorded after Dunn was accepted into an artist’s residency program in upstate New York in June 2017. To document this period of focused writing, Dunn approached NYHED studios in the Lower East Side NYC in the month that followed. Owned and operated by Matt and Rocío Verda-Ray, the small studio preferences analogue equipment and recording to tape, which suited the Palm Springs aesthetic perfectly. Seven tracks were completed in a 10-hour burst, with an aim to capture a song without overthinking or extrapolation. What results are very raw and immediate takes. Back home in Melbourne and eager to complete the project, a final song was added at Phaedra Studios with John Lee also recording to tape machine.
About this track...
"The best love you ever had. Totally screwed you over. You wouldn’t change a thing. You’d do it all again. Every stinking, incredible thing. Nothing else to say about it."
