POPPONGENE is the alias of multidisciplinary Melbourne artist Sophie Treloar. Originally from Byron Bay, Treloar is now based in Melbourne and is spending her time bringing you devotional dream-pop.
Wet Towel describes the disconnect and parallel release at the end of a relationship. It’s a punchy and sparse song about the multitude of feelings loss brings. Elizabeth’s solo music is a full floral bloom of heartache and personal reaffirmation. Her voice shimmers, remaining light to the touch as it conveys a multitude of emotions.
'here' is about hoping you are not the bad guy but suspecting you might be. It’s looking around at all the chaos you have caused and genuinely not understanding how it happened. It’s a pop anthem about being diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

This song is about a distraction fling, taking a lover outside of your primary relationship and hoping it will solve all of your problems. The last lyrics of the song were written in a tiny piano room in the middle of Sydney CBD, sobbed out through gallons of frustration tears.

Chitra - A Kind Indie, Alternative | 02/10/2019 |
Drawing on elements of rock’n’roll, contemporary indie-rock and a hint of blues, Chitra’s music provides a rich platform for storytelling, an element of songwriting she is particularly passionate about.
A Kind is a taciturn takedown of a would-be love interest. Chitra delivers this song with one eyebrow raised. It's a song of frustration whilst being a little bit sarcastic about it. To Chitra, it’s a song about standing up for yourself and realising your self worth. With rousing drums and twangy guitar, this is Chitra at her catchiest yet.

'beautiful baby' is about leaving the chaos of a relationship behind. it's about trying to understand how a love that was so beautiful could be a thing that ends. we took a lot of inspiration from the music of twin peaks for this song, hoping to re-imagine the magical spell of angelo badalamenti and julee cruise.

Peak Twins founding members Joel Carey and Liam Kenny formed Peak Twins in their share house in 2012, and have just announced their second album 'Beloved'.
This song is a nod to Ennio Morricone – it’s grand and it sets the scene. The call and response melodies really work in a different way to our other songs. It’s more of a composition than a song.

RVG’s Romy Vager: "I’m a huge fan of this period of Cale’s music. It’s a strange balance of honest and grandiose pain, it’s like watching a car full of cocaine drive over a cliff. We played this song at our first gig and people have been bugging us to record it ever since so I’m glad that it’s finally around."
