Malcura - Malcura

Malcura - Malcura
Malcura are an exhilarating acoustic trio from Australia. Honing their craft as buskers in Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall, Malcura have captivated the public with their distinctive sound, which combines the technical ability and passion of Flamenco with Latin rhythms and the in-your-face attributes of Rock’n’roll.

Driven by the powerful guitar-drum rhythm section of Simon Wood and Steven Angell and topped with the dynamic and evocative lead guitar playing of Josh Voce, Malcura create music for the soul; it’s a feeling as much as it is a sound.

Malcura attracted worldwide attention in 2016 with renditions of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and the “Gerudo Valley Theme” from Zelda – amassing millions of viral views on Youtube. Their self-titled debut album followed, receiving widespread critical acclaim, selling over 3000 copies and being nominated as 2016′s “Best Global/Reggae Album” at The Age Music Victoria Awards.

Malcura are a workhorse of a live band with an impressive gig history under their belt including Illawarra Folk Festival, Byron Bay International Guitar Festival, Blue Mountains Music Festival and countless shows across Australia. They have also performed alongside Tash Sultana, Missy Higgins, Harry Manx (Canada) and even on stage with Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Palais Theatre.

About this track...

"Malcura" is the first single to be released from the forthcoming second album, "Malcura II". The track is described by the band as “a reflection of the Malcura sound, from where it started, to what it’s become”.

“Malcura” combines many of the musical ideas and tricks the trio have learned as street performers with their hallmark Heavy Flamenco style.
