Luboku’s debut solo single ‘The Surface’ was released in late 2017 - the first single from a new body of work. ‘The Surface’ is an exploration of dark electronics, a creation of sounds that were harsh, brittle and organic – steamrolled by a thick, clean and synthetic surface. As a song it could just as easily soundtrack an afternoon festival slot in Melbourne as an underground club at dawn in Kreuzberg. As a sound, it sets Luboku as Australia’s answer to James Blake, only tinged with the bold energy of Jon Hopkins. Further singles from The Surface (EP) have seen support from around the world - with global media outlets giving it their tick of approval.
