veteran pays tribute to Australian diggers in his new ARIA #1 album, Spirit of the Anzacs.
With Australia celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Anzacs landing at Gallipoli on April 25, the Spirit of the Anzacs album pays tribute to the men and women who
have served and continue to serve Australia.
Lee, along with his producer Garth Porter and songwriting great Colin Buchanan spent over 18 months writing and researching the material that makes up the songs on the album. Every song on the album is based on a true story as told by the diggers themselves through their letters, diary entries and personal recollections.
"This is some of the most powerful material that I've ever had the privilege to record in my career," Kernaghan said.
The album, released in March 2015, chalked up four consecutive weeks atop the ARIA Album Chart, exceeded Platinum sales within three weeks of release, and is the longest-running chart-topping release from an Australian artist this year.
