nostalgic, take-no-prisoners feminist grunge is just the way it should be – unabashedly honest and
true to their own vision.
Fronted by songwriter and bassist Julia Wylie (previously of The Cathys, Snotty Babies and recently,
First Timers’ band Worm Cafe), with Caleb Jacobs on guitar (of solo project Plum, as well as The
Cathys) and Peter Beringer (Sleep Debt, ex-Shrapnel and Marrickville studio Audile Design).
JuliaWhy? has toured extensively throughout Australia and Canada, won triple j Unearthed and
played alongside some of their favourites including Waxahatchee, Hinds, Hatchie and Major Leagues.
The enduring quality of JuliaWhy? is unpretentious, clever and honest songwriting that is both
beautiful and brutal. Wylie manages to write songs worth crying over and dancing to, while
maintaining a political, anti-patriarchal message throughout.
Pocket is the second single off their forthcoming album. The trio will be touring in October with Le Pie on drums.
