Amrap's AirIt | Australian Music Radio Airplay Project :: Folk :: John Flanagan Trio - Bodhi Tree

John Flanagan Trio - Bodhi Tree

John Flanagan Trio - Bodhi Tree
Combining 60s and 70s folk singer/songwriter influences with a contemporary folk sound, John Flanagan has proven himself to be “one of Australia’s finest lyricists” (Timber and Steel). His engaging storytelling, uplifting melodies and warm vocal delivery have seen him draw comparisons to James Taylor, John Denver and Paul Kelly. Festival favourite Liz Frencham (double bass) and bluegrass virtuoso Dan Watkins (guitar/mandolin) round out the trio, adding dynamic arrangements and warm vocal harmonies.

John’s 2016 album, ‘There’s Another Way to Where You’re Going’ was recorded in Nashville with producer Viktor Krauss, Grammy award winning engineer Neal Cappellino and world class musicians. The album was nominated for best Folk/Roots Album in the Age Music Victoria Awards and was a radio favourite around the country.
“The music is just gorgeous, I absolutely love it” Felicity Urquhart, Saturday Night Country, ABC

Moving through humour, heartbreak and social justice, the trio delivers an entertaining and moving set, drawing the audience into their world through a variety of musical feels and emotions and their joy in sharing the music together is contagious. They are currently working on their first album as a trio and ‘Beauty On The Bottom’ is the first release from the upcoming album.
