Glad & Dave's Dirt Band - I Was A King
Glad Reed and David Claringbold began their musical partnership when they were part of a group of artists occupying an abandoned hotel in Sydney’s Darlinghurst in the 1980’s.
Together Glad and Dave formed Just a Drummer and released their debut single Sweat in 1984 followed quickly by Dreams. Changing their name to Red Ochre, they released In the City When it Rains in 1988.
The duo took a musical sojourn to France in 1993 to build their life and musical experiences and ended up touring the country for two years.
Returning to Australia they released the album Ragged Soul in 1997 before bunkering down to family life.
In 2010 the duo released the album Orchid Avenue, a stripped back ambient and folky collection that explored collaboration between live recording and created atmospheres.
Now Glad & Dave’s Dirt Band gives birth to a collection of tunes that encompass all of their musical language.
The Road is a triumphant return to the musical arena for a couple who have survived all that a life time of rock will throw at you and have come out the other end with a sound and a bunch of tunes that celebrates the future

About this track...

A gorgeous tapestry of atmospheres provide the bed for this song as a man contemplates the future without his once held power and influence. The man realises that he was actually born without these trappings and that such power is ephemeral in the big picture of life.
