Fields reflects, “it’s about the vulnerability of a new relationship; that exciting feeling of being unwrapped and discovered by someone, sexually and emotionally... It’s kinda like my love letter to really, really great oral sex.”
After seeing the Fields and Phia onstage together at The Toff in Town during a brief visit by Phia to Melbroune, Astral Debris producer Tim Shiel suggested getting Phia to contribute to album track ‘Open Orange’, and the charismatic collaboration was born.
“Phia had gone home to Berlin at this point, so we were writing and coming up with these melodic call-and-response phrases over email. It was an interesting process, like a slow- reveal show-and-tell, actually, it was a lot like opening an orange..”
Fields launches ‘Open Orange feat. Phia’ with a full band show at The Gasometer Hotel on Sunday 3 July, as part of the Leaps & Bounds festival.
