The self titled cassette comprises their first batch of songs, including Under The Sea and Ex which have featured on the Community 4 and 7000 compilations and touted on the blogosphere as “diving in with a bold Velvet’s strum, underwater pop vibrations and lush choral backing vocals” and “woozy dream-pop, sweet and an excellent encapsulation of small town claustrophobia” respectively.
The other tracks address all too familiar themes including the inevitable pull of mainland Australia and the resultant lost friends and the ubiquity of cigarette scabs at the local.
Ironically, the pull of the North Island sees the future of the band uncertain, and this cassette release will likely be the only lasting document of a truly great, yet fleeting, Hobart band. From the single word song titles, to the art featuring distinct designs by all five members Foxy Morons is time-capsule craft.
