The Fonke Knomaads DJ Soup & MC TeOp formed at a Sydney high school in the late 80's and released their first EP “The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of…” on Poboy Records in ’93 which became the first local independent hip hop release to gain rotation on Triple J. And its been 25 years this year! After performing together in most clubs in Kings Cross and rocking some chunky festival stages the Knomaads split and DJ Soup went on to forge a solo career as Australia's first and premiere Trip Hop producer being signed to Creative Vibes and doing a significant local and interstate tour in the late 90’s.
Fast forward and the Fonke Knomaads reformed in 2007 and dropped the long awaited album Cleopatra’s Bath Milk in 08
The Knomaads current offerings have been in the form of two Vinyl 3 track 7” Singles (Digital 5 track EP’s) the first being FreakWild released and the second that has just dropped being Nebulist just released.
Knomaads are drip-feeding their delicacies that will form a set of four 7” vinyl collectables with 20 digital tracks in total.
