Based in Melbourne, the 5 piece Exek debuted early last year, describing themselves as 'passive aggressive', this is instantly recognisable as the persistent rhythm section of kraut-meets-dub offers a solid foundation for intrusive bursts on acidic guitar, improvised synth, and delay-heavy sax. Pronounced 'exec', the band depict a merging between discipline & destruction, echoing the likes of PiL & Swell Maps. Recent split release with Texan outfit Spray Paint saw a harmonious dichotomy between two variants of post-punk, whilst last year's EP has long been sold out. Exek are currently working on their full-length follow up.
