Steeped in melody, the album’s first single ‘Then You Stop’ is full of strings that swell with orchestral drum rolls, driving the track as it opens into an joyful indie-pop outro, with Forster declaring, arms outstretched, “I wish you were here so I could hold you / and tell you the things your mother told you…”
Produced by indie ‘it kid’ Nick Huggins (Kid Sam; Hello Satellites; Oscar + Martin), ‘Then You Stop’ was recorded in his Point Lonsdale studio, under the fading light of late-Summer.
“It’s about death - about missing someone; and that strange combination of grief and joy that death can bring up”, she explains. “I feel like our culture can have a tendency to avoid intimacy around death, and we all miss out as a result”.
