Chosen as the soundtrack to Tourism Australia’s $250 million international advertising push, it took Dewayne from his day job as an Aboriginal health worker to being the voice of one of 2012's most talked-about tracks.
Signed to Darwin-based Skinnyfish Music (Gurrumul, Saltwater Band), “It’s Like Love” sees its commercial release this week, after being mixed in the US by Jay Newland (Norah Jones, Missy Higgins). The track is launching with a performance at the prestigious Deadly Awards in Sydney, followed by an exclusive photo shoot in next month’s Women’s Weekly magazine.
“The last twelve months have really been a whirlwind,” said Everettsmith. “From touring nationally with Gurrumul, playing for Oprah’s friend Gayle King, to travelling to the UK to launch the Tourism Australia commercial, the success this track has achieved already is beyond my wildest dreams—and it’s only released this week!”
Dewayne is working on his debut album slated for release in early 2013.
