Contrast formed in 2012 when longtime skateboarding friends James Thomson, Jack Crook and Nathan Brown discovered a mutual love of post-punk/guitar noise music. After recording their debut ‘Less Than Zero’ Ep in mid 2013 with legendary producer Lindsay Gravina (Rowland S. Howard), Contrast quickly gathered a reputation in the Australian music scene as a loud and enthralling live act. Their debut album is the result of a six year recording process that saw them lose the initial recording sessions. Contrast were forced to to start over which led to a new perspective and fresh take on the album. Joined by drummer/producer Richard Andrew at Melbourne’s Pharmacy studio, the band re-recorded the album live to tape.
