Clare Hennessy - Bittersweetest

Clare Hennessy - Bittersweetest
Clare Hennessy is a trained playwright, a self-taught musician and professional pet-botherer. Sydney based, she divides her time between the theatre, teaching and creating music: a very fulfilling existence indeed. Having studied theatre at CSU and her masters of writing at NIDA, she found herself continually wanting to combine her love of story-telling with her love of music - thus birthing April, her debut EP. Her musical career to date has included singing at the Opera House, in The Boy from Oz, as a session musician and singing a three-part USO style rendition of “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke. Her theatrical highlights include co-founding Left of Centre Theatre Company, writing original plays Tongue Tied (Old Fitz), Transience (KXT), and most recently, Delilah (The Butterfly Club).

Her work has always wrestled with what it means to be a woman, both politically and personally - and now, this bleeds very much into her music. Deeply confessional in subject, she charts her coming of age since graduating from university and chartering unknown territories of vulnerability and self-love. She is incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to share such a journey with you.

About this track...

‘Bitersweetest’ envelops us in the beautiful tragedy of lost love. An ode to the sentimentality of westerns with just a nod of the whimsical, this dark but sweet ballad will leave you longing for that lost love. Don’t listen to this late at night.
