Briggs - The Children Came Back

Briggs - The Children Came Back
Written by maverick hip-hop artist Briggs The Children Came Back advances the story & pays homage to They Took The Children Away. Archie Roach AM released the single 25 years ago from the seminal album Charcoal Lane & it’s with his blessings, this new sequel of a song is released to champion black excellence & remind us of all the amazing things achieved since. Jimmy Little, Adam Goodes, Lionel Rose, Patty Mills are just some of the greats referenced within this almighty anthemic shout-out by Briggs; hell even Tony Abbott gets a mention.

What started as a collaboration for triple j’s Like a Version last July, Briggs now officially records & releases the song due to the massive amount of positive feedback it received. Briggs, Gurrumul, Dewayne Everettsmith & B2M re-group; this time with producers James Mangohig [Sietta] & Michael Hohnen [Skinnyfish Music]. There are changes from the rendition performed for Like a Version. Clap sticks replace an electric hip hop beat, yidaki from N.E Arnhem Land plays a bass part speaking a morphed song Tiwi Islands B2M chant haunting words spelling out more language hidden & then there’s that undeniable anthemic male choral quality that hooks inside your head.
