Chris Dubrow spent 7 years in the 1990s fronting iNsuRge, known both for its industrial edged alt-rock, and for Dubrow’s unrepentantly politically charged lyrics. After a period away from the limelight he felt a build up of words, music and production ideas needed a proper outlet.
Foulke and Dubrow finally joined forces, further layers of common influences rose to the fore such as Delta blues, Prodigy style sonics, and the raw emotion and rage of punk rock.
Live, Blackbreaks are include Matty McMartin on electronica, Mark ‘Milli’ Avery (also ex-iNsuRge) on bass, & the ever lively Sean Burnett (former iNsuRge percussionist).
The early years produced two 4-track EPs – ‘Self titled’ in 2012, and ‘Need machines’ in 2014. In 2015, a tranche of songs have been completed and will form the basis of a debut album scheduled for later this year. Meanwhile the band has also been starting to build a solid live reputation.
