B-Town Warriors - Thundercloud

B-Town Warriors - Thundercloud
The B-Town Warriors were born out of a community media project in 2016 - delivered by charity organisation Desert Pea Media with young people at Bourke High School. One of the outcomes was a song and music video titled 'People of the Red Sunset'.

The music video attracted an unprecedented level of support overnight, with 300,000 views and 9000 shares on Facebook and 95,000 views on Youtube. Triple J quickly caught wind, and the track was added to spot rotation on Triple J.

Their second track 'Dreams' was premiered on Triple J's 'Home N Hosed' in 2016, and their third track 'Thundercloud' will be premiered, along with a 5 min segment shot on location in Bourke on Channel 10's 'The Project' on July 12th.

Desert Pea Media projects involve a dialogue-based storytelling process that encourage participants to analyze 'the real', 'the ideal' and 'the bridge'. In simple terms this means critically thinking about how to create positive change for yourself, for each other and for our communities.

The B-Town Warriors projects feature the expert musical production of acclaimed musician and and songwriter Carlo Santone (Blue King Brown, Nattali Rize) who collaborates with DPM Director Toby Finlayson to make the magic!

About this track...

This song is a story of struggle. In a context where mental health is at crisis point for young Indigenous Australians, and the pressures of living in two worlds are bigger than ever. This is a brave and emotive production created to inspire community to be resilient and feel supported.
