sleepmakeswaves are an instrumental (post-)rock band from sydney, australia.
The band came together in 2006 with a desire to write textured, dynamic and emotive songs combining delicate beauty with dramatic climaxes. After their 2007 demo generated unexpected buzz, they went on to independently finance and produce 2 further EPs. Strong word of mouth and critical praise saw the band’s listener base grow worldwide, with over 50,000 people downloading their tracks online.
sleepmakeswaves’ bold approach to creating innovative instrumental music has seen their tracks receive airplay nationwide (incl. Triple J, FBi, RRR) and notably as far afield as the BBC. Their electric live performances have seen them share the stage with acts including Mono, Boris, Pelican Russian Circles and Unitopia. In 2009 they conducted their first headline tour of Australia, enjoying a sold out shows and headlining the Menagerie experimental music festival in Sydney.
sleepmakeswaves have toured extensively across Australia, the US and Europe in 2012, including performing at SXSW in Texas, co-headlining Belgium’s Dunk! Festival with 65daysofstatic and supporting Karnivool on a sold out national tour.
