To The North is a band of great friends who love music, traveling, making new friends, coffee, skateboarding, comics, video games, soccer, melody and “doing it yourself”.
To The North was born in Errol’s living room/kitchen when Josh came over one day with a bass. The duo wrote music, inspired by thier mutual love for bands like Settlefish, Envy, Hot Cross and Malady.
Cam, of Razorhurst/Sophora and Existence Is Dead runs the studio where Errol’s previous band, Lorna Slavin practiced. Cam and Errol had been talking about starting something like Isis and Envy themselves.
One fateful day Cam organised a jam with drummer Simon who was in the Gallery Kiss and had previously been in Yellow Peril and They Are Night Zombies. Simon loved Sophora and wanted to jam even though he didn’t really like Isis. The songs played that day sounded nothing like Isis, not even slightly and they still don’t.
