Leaving popular Melbourne frock outfit "The Suits" in 2006, esteemed vocalist and guitarist Matt Simmons locked himself away to work on his songwriting. Two years of introspection, Matt emerged with three albums worth of songs and assembled a group of talented musicians to assist his new vision and compliment what is his finest songwriting yet.

The Barebones spent 2011 delighting audiences with their live show. Highlights include playing to capacity crowds at the Northcote Social Club for the Northcote Independent Fashion Festival and Georgia Fields" Mix CD Social.

While with popular Melbourne four-piece The Suits, Matt toured extensively and supported acts such as The Posies (USA), The Thrills, La Rocca, Idlewild (UK), You Am I, Youth Group, The Mess Hall, 78 Saab to name but a few. Between 2000 - 2005, they released three EPs, achieved widespread national airplay and popularity and secured songs on Australian commercial television soundtracks.

The single !Strangely Alone" from The Barebones" forthcoming self titled EP is currently receiving airplay on community radio stations RRR and PBSFM. The debut EP showcases the band"s stylistic diversity from driving rock to 60"s inspired pop and will be launched at the Phoenix Public House, Saturday 3rd March 2012.
