The four, sometimes five piece Sydney based rude boys are delivering a refreshing vibe to Australian music. The band began their rise when drummer, Beaker, and bass player Patty Fingers, met busker Dylan Frost one night in early 09 outside the Coopers Arms hotel in Newtown.
Dylan, fresh from N.Z. and not yet 18, was on the streets with his guitar busking for coin outside the pub.
“We met him,” Patty says, “when the Coopers Arms bouncer started hassling us and telling us we should give him some money.” Frost’s melodic sense continues the great Kiwi reggae lineage and brings that spirit to the band.
Since then the band have spent their time re-fining and re-defining their sound, a melodic, mega-hectic, psychedelic mash that it is today - a shape throwing psych blast.
Sticky Fingers have worked live around Australia, having toured nationally with Donavan Frankenreiter and by themselves. Already highly rated by anyone that crosses their path, the band’s live show is on the up.
The band worked to get the right songs and sound for their recordings, finally getting something that represents what they can do live. Juicy Ones and Happy Endings have both had great national airplay.
