Portal Window was formed by Paola del Rio, who played at Melbourne’s renowned Rock n Roll High School during the 90’s. Upon returning there for piano lessons, she was introduced to her musical compliment, a classically trained pianist, architect and audience favourite; Clare Chadderton completed the sound Paola was looking for in 2002.
Past releases include Curious (2004), an EP of bleeding hearts and misplaced violins. Autumn Calls (2008) a bossa nova influenced track taken from A World For You, their debut album.
In recent years performing within intimate settings became a favourite such as, Caz Reitop’s Dirty Secrets which saw them debut the haunt of The Tunnel, in which Paola performed blindfolded in the blue stone basement.
’A World For You’ is their debut album recorded by PdR. Throughout the recording sessions, guests were invited to play a part, more specifically; a sibling, a cousin, an uncle. It is an eclectic taste from the instrumental Baroque style of Waltz, standard pop of Harmony and I Could Tell You, indie latin rhythms of Autumn Calls and Samba en La Tarde, all the way to the dark dreamlike epic of Abode, and melancholia of Falling Stars and A World For You.

The title track of pOrtal windOw's debut album begins with a simple drum loop introducing increasing layers of harmonies, soft guitars and keyboard. The chorus builds into a splendour of interwoven melodies, the ending tying it neatly together with a giant bow.
