After six years touring the world and beyond with Little Red, Major Tom has announced his departure from the group to return to his classic honkytonk roots and has assembled a dazzling six-piece band of rogues to share in the booty.
On sax, we present the tamer of wild grooves, 'Maestro' Sean Vagg; on drums, 'The Vibes Chancellor' Adam Swoboda; on bass, 'The Sinister Administerer', Si Lawrie; on keys, Mr Benny 'Hoos' Huisman and on guitar, the collector of sonic curiosities, 'Professor' Simon Tait.
Major Tom & The Atoms take their cues and clues from the greats of yesteryear - Dr John, The Doors, The Stones, The Bad Seeds, Sergeant Pepper and more, concocting an intoxicating brew of funky-tonk blues, spy-chedelic show tunes and howlin' growlin' jungle grooves.
Major Tom & The Atoms played their first gig at the iconic Retreat Hotel on September 9th 2011, and after a summer of packed headline shows, have rocketed to the top of Melbourne's world-famous live music scene, causing outbreaks of dancing and damaging ear-trumpets at The Northcote Social Club, Cherry Bar, The Toff In Town, The Evelyn, The Retreat, Pony Bar and supporting Aussie legends The Black Sorrows and Fearless Vampire Killers.
