Kingfisha - Looking Glass

Kingfisha - Looking Glass
Extensive touring of the country and slots on some of Australia and New Zealands leading festivals has seen Brisbane six-piece Kingfisha emerge as one of the finest acts in the reggae/dub scene.

Kingfisha have taken Jamaican rhythms and infused them with honest songwriting & strong melodies to create genuine, Australian Reggae.

In early 2010 Kingfisha won Triple J’s Unearthed Fuse Festival Roots competition. Now their long awaited self titled debut long player is due for release on May 14. An album that is highly anticipated by their many fans.

Looking Glass, is the first single to be lifted. Recorded and produced by Pauli B (Beautiful Girls, George) at the Tanuki Lounge in Brisbane's West End. Lyrically the song is about a person giving up the need to blame others for their life situations and choosing to take responsibility for themselves.

Slick vocals and defining guitar skanks, groove within overdubs and effects, all melting into cymbal licks. Lead singer Anthony’s vocals have been described by Triple J’s Richard Kingsmill as “Melted butter. And honey. And silk sheets”. Looking Glass does not disappoint in creating their signature smooth sound.

The new album ‘Kingfisha’ is out through Uppercut Records/Vitamin on May 14, 2012.
