After almost a year at the top of the independent Australian dance/electronic charts with the much lauded album 'Elk', Sydney's most distinctive female voice, Inga Liljestrom collected a swag of shimmering reviews and comparisons to everyone from Bjork and Marianne Faithful, to Portishead and Karen Dalton. What followed were invitations to play festivals both here and overseas, a sell-out Opera House Studio show, invitations to collaborate with both music and film makers, and an ever growing international fan base mesmerised by her music and performances.
Many moons before, Inga's voice graced hit records by Gerling (Dust Me Selecta) and d.i.g. as well as countless other acts, including Friendly, Hi-Fi Mike, The Church and Itchee & Scratchee.
As a singer, composer and sound-designer, Inga's journey from early group Hellgrind (self-explanatory!) to the beautifully orchestrated, lush cinematics of album Elk, also included remixing Gotye, an ambient album under the name Quiet Music For Quiet People, plus a number of limited edition EPs, LPs and a stunning DVD collection entitled 'Radjur'.
Which brings us to 2011 and a brand new album, 'Black Crow Jane' recorded in France. An altogether more primordial record, it's nevertheless full of Inga's beguiling voice and lyrics.

One of the four more gentlly rustic, acoustic offerings from new LP 'Black Crow Jane'. Over stripped back guitar pickings and resophonic steel-bluegrass slides, Inga weaves lyrical magic and butterfly spirals. There's something dark and worrying in the swamp's undertow though. After all, a woman has a shiny pistol.
