Obese Records captain Pegz has revealed the genesis of his newest recording incarnation; Gully Platoon. Combining his legendary talents with a pair of Australia’s rising stars, Gully Platoon fuses a trio of Australian MCs forging a brand new path and a brand new sound for hip hop in Australia.
No introductions are necessary for Pegz, an established solo artist and record label CEO. A pillar of the Australian hip hop community, he has released acclaimed solo albums (Capricorn Cat, Axis, Burn City) and fostered the growth and development of some of the country’s most prominent artists. By his side are former Down Under Beats members (and Triple J Unearthed winners) Dialectrix and Joe New. Having recently released his critically lauded solo album Cycles of Survival, Dialectrix brings his spitfire flow and lyrical urgency to the group, while Joe New, fresh from his stint as a member of Two Toes, rounds out the depth and talent of the trio.
Working closely with producers Plutonic Lab and Jase, Gully Platoon have prepared 13 hard hitting tracks for their debut album, The Great Divide, the pinnacle of razor sharp musical textures crashing together with 3 of the most talented rhymesmiths in the business.
