Greenthief is a relatively new band that has exploded onto the scene with their unique psychedelic rock sound. The band draws elements of classical and world music into their songs, creating a sound that could have been created through the lovechild of Jeff
Buckley and Trent Reznor.
Forming in late 2008, the band's young age is deceptive as the three members have played in many well-established groups on the Brisbane scene including 8 Ball Atkin, Sunflower, Rachael Brady, New Manic Spree, Pink Bullet, as well as The Queensland
Orchestra. This experience is evident both musically and through their explosive live performance which so far has claimed 7 innocent lives.
Greenthief’s fusion of electronics is seen during their live show where sampled drumbeats and other effects are run off a laptop. The band’s drummer takes on keyboard duties during performances to help create the more textured song arrangements the band is known for. Greenthief has also been known to incorporate two drum sets live creating a primal sound that is intense, vivid, and hard to ignore.
Greenthief is currently promoting their debut EP – Anicca.
