The tour rounds out a busy 12 months for Groom, who released her debut album ‘Gossamer’ at the end of 2011. Described by Blunt Magazine as “a beautiful and mighty debut”, the album was named triple j feature album upon it’s release.
Groom ticks some impressive boxes: she’s got the cool, feminine confidence of a 60s pop princess like Francoise Hardy, only her sugary melodies are peppered with bouts of wailing and growling sure to appeal to fans of the dirty rock of Nick Cave or PJ Harvey. It’s these melodies that have seen Groom been named a Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist, before going on to win the Western Australian contingent of the Triple J Unearthed Award for the Sydney Songwriting Summit.
From there, Groom went on to win WAMi Awards in and Best Indie Pop Act in 2009 & 2010 and Best Commercial Pop Act 2011. These awards arrived among a busy touring schedule which including supporting artists such as Little Birdy, Bob Evans, Tame Impala and Eskimo Joe on their respective national tours as well as playing a series of international shows across Europe, including the iconic Glastonbury festival.
