Three-girl, two-boy outfit from Melbourne Bayou blend cascading guitar lines, eerie female harmonies and propulsive drumming with anthemic lead vocals to create a sound that is haunting, commanding and dirty all at the same time – a fuzzed out missive from some enticing underworld.
Formed in 2011 Bayou consists of Perth ex-pats Angela Flood (vocals), Cheree Dobra (vocals, bass), Tim Davis (guitar) and Reuben Acciano (guitar) and Melburnian Francesca Chong (drums). Their self-titled debut EP’s songs were born as a cappella recordings on Garageband, where front-woman and songwriter Flood tracked vocal layer upon layer, and were later developed via drunken Facebook chats and lounge room jams with lead guitarist Davis. In mid 2011 the duo were joined by the full band and from here the songs began to take flight.
