As A Rival are best described as raw hard rock at it’s finest, fronted by Pete Cerni (Burn the City) along with old band mate, Jayde Whelan (Into the Red) and Brendan Aked (Summer's Mistake, Brendan James). Their story began at the start of 2010 when Pete began writing new songs and decided to record them in a small backyard studio. The experiment was a success and the idea to form a new project was initiated.
This hard rock trio are a MUST SEE live act that manages to create their own distinctive flame; guitar-driven riff rock induced with infectious melody that’s complemented with offbeat rhythms… you can’t help but take a second look at this intense rock unit.
AAR are currently in the process of recording an EP, due for release early 2012.
About this track...
'The Anchor' is a fast-paced melody, although it tells a dark and rather depressing story. It does a brilliant job of maintaining a serious overtone, without becoming too depressing thanks to the band’s lovely musical work.
