Aqualash is Sarah Lorien and Michael Trifunovic, who have been working together for over ten years. We are inspired very much by the visual and kinetic impacts music and sound can create. The heart of our work is spontaneous and intuitive, from intimate acoustic to multi-layered electronic and vocal pieces.
Michael's life of music began when his father bought him a $25 guitar after hearing Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and John McLaughlin. With his discovery of European Jazz and Krautrock in his late teens, the foundations of his unique guitar style were established.
Sarah was given a toy baby grand when she was three years old, and proceeded to play nursery rhymes by ear. At age five classical piano lessons began under the tuition of her grandmother. At 12 she began to teach herself guitar. One of the more significant influences was receiving "Kate Bush - The Kick Inside" for Christmas - a vital factor musically both in inspiration and technically. Singing along with Kate Bush (and Barbara Streisand) helped to develop her clear, higher register.
The EP "Blue Notes" and the single "Bloodlust" are the 2010 releases, with developing interest in music for film and television.
