Award winning, internationally renowned Sudanese-Australian singer/songwriter Ajak Kwai, arrived on Australian shores as a refugee in 1998. Since then Ajak has carved a long hard but heart-warmingly resilient road of musical story-telling and song, with some of Australia’s leading musicians such as Martin Tucker and Christopher Basille by her side. At the end of 2010 Ajak collaborated with Sarah Blasko to present their own co-written work for the compilation CD ‘The Key of Sea’ - a fundraiser for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Ajak continues to excite audiences with a new leap of performance to the comedy-theatre circuit with Trent McCathy, as well as performing regularly with her new band across Australia. Her musical journey in bringing a variety of cross-cultural experiences for all to enjoy is emphasised through her music and forthcoming new album. She continues on her own personal journey of bringing people together and making the world a better place for all to enjoy. Ajak presents musical folk story-telling from her homeland as well as songs she has written from her own personal experiences. Ajak’s music can be found on myspace and through her website www.ajakkwai.com
